A habitability board for lunar pits, scored on four axes drawn from measurements that actually exist. Where a measurement does not exist, the axis is not scored — it is not quietly counted as a zero, and the number of axes behind every score travels with it.
How a pit is scored, and what the score cannot tell you
Four axes, weighted, averaged over the axes that were measured for that pit. The
weights are below and the arithmetic is in app.js. The reason for
normalising rather than filling gaps: a pit that nobody has pointed a radiometer at is
not a thermally hostile pit, and scoring it as one would invent a finding. The cost of
the honest choice is that a pit measured on one favourable axis can score higher than a
pit measured on four — which is precisely why coverage sits in its own column and
cannot be sorted away.
Because that trade is uncomfortable, the board shows it rather than resolving it. Measured axes only averages what exists. Unmeasured charged makes every absent axis cost its full weight. The distance between the two — the gap column — is the part of a pit's standing that rests on nobody having looked. Switch the reading and watch the order change: the pits that barely move are the ones the record actually supports.
